First find Swamp Owl, Clay Dog, Clay Acorn, and Swamp Fox, Nos. 1-4 of Seven
from the Florida Ancients.

NO. 5 - Bannerstone

As the trail rises, you will notice more and more that you are walking on
shells. At the end of the trail, sit and follow sight line your left knee
is probably pointing. See massive twisting root and follow it to where the
Bannerstone hides under the great knobby turn.

You are on top of an ancient shell mound. There are more of these Timucuan
mounds, but 19th century settlers excavated them and used the shell to
pave the muddy streets of old DeLand and other area settlements.
